Valentine Mini Sessions 2025
This Past weekend, I hosted my annual Valentine Minis. I posted a behind the scenes “how to” of me creating the backdrop and it currently has 4.1k views (holy cow!!-lol) So, in the spirit of trying to blog more I figured this was as good a time as any. **Why I Love Photographing Mini Sessions**
As a photographer, there’s something truly special about mini sessions. These short and sweet photo shoots allow me to capture so many different moments in my clients’ lives—from seasonal celebrations and milestone moments to just-for-fun portraits that showcase love, laughter, and connection.
One of the things I love most about mini sessions is the variety. In a single day, I might photograph a glowing mama-to-be, an energetic toddler with the biggest smile, a sweet couple stealing a quiet moment together, or a family laughing in a sunlit field. Each session tells its own story, and I get to freeze those fleeting moments into timeless images my clients will cherish forever.
Mini sessions are also the perfect way for families to update their photos without the commitment of a full session. The National Association of Portrait and Child Photographers is an association whose mission is to promote and support the artistry and integrity of professional portrait and child photographers. Happy 2021!
Happy New Year!! I think we can all agree it time for a “fresh start” :) I need my year with some time off and enjoyed some more quality time with my family. I hope you all had an amazing Holiday and New Years as well. I ended the year at NKP with 2 contests!!! The first was my annual Holiday Card Contest. I asked all my clients who made Cards using images I took of them to send me one- Then on the 1st I pick 1 (at random- out of a bag) and then I make that client a special photo gift. I totally flashed out and forgot to announce the winner (oops!)….THE WINNER IS——————————-(insert drum roll)——————————— TIFFANY M.!! Congrats!!!! You can see cell phone snaps of the winner and many of the cards I received below. YI enjoyed getting them all and they were all beautiful. Tiffany- You will be receiving your prize in the mail soon!!!
~ The second contest was my first annual MY FAVORITE THINGS contest (This was so fun and I can’t wait to do it this year again!!!) I uploaded my favorite newborn images from 2020 (only 1 from each session) and you all voted on your favorites!!! If you had a newborn session in 2020, you were encouraged to TAG and SHARE the image to get your family and friends to VOTE FOR YOUR little one! For each vote to count you had to “react” with the “like”, or “Love” on Facebook AND COMMENT (you had to do both for 1 vote to count ;) There was ALOT of VOTES!! Which was great for the first time (I know it is a little confusing too)… The image with the most votes won a FREE 16x20 gallery wrapped canvas of their image- thats a $350 value!!!! And I CHOSE TWO!!!! The top 2 were SOOOO close- and they both worked so hard at getting their friends and family to vote that in the spirit of the Holidays- I decided they both win!!!! Below are the 2 winners with will each receive their canvases in a few weeks!! CONGRATULATIONS to both families and than you for participating!!!
Again- I am looking forward to 2021 and one of my work resolutions is to BLOG more- lol… ain’t it always!?!?!

I had such a wonderful session with this beautiful girl. I photographed her family 8 years ago and she has grown into such a gorgeous, sweet young lady since I last saw her. I hope you guys love these “peeks” from her session!

I MISS YOU!
It has been since Mid-March since it has been “business as usual” here at NKP. And I know things where you are have also most likely been thrown for a loop. Some of us have been out of work, are being teachers to our little ones, Essential workers still out there everyday for all of us, etc… No matter what you have been doing this Pandemic has affected each of us in one way or another. I have been mostly self-isolated and social distancing. Doing everything that I can to stay healthy for myself, my family and my clients. I have helped a few clients take their own newborn portraits, edited some client images, did some Face-Time sessions, But I truly miss the face to face connection with all of my clients. Especially snuggling those little ones! I am excited to say that beginning in June, I will SLOWLY be getting back to work! I am lucky in the sense that I have never been a “High-Volume” photographer, I generally only photograph 1 session per day anyways, But to start I will schedule newborn sessions 48 hours apart. I have ALWAYS been super strict with my sanitizing/cleaning But I am doing extra. I have always cleaned the props and washed all fabrics/clothing after each session. I am now also washing everything prior to the sessions as well. Doing extra detailed cleaning of the props and accessories used, and I will be wearing a mask during the sessions. As far as what you can do, its basically the same as before- If you are not feeling 100%, then we will reschedule; Immediate family only at the home during the session, and if there are siblings then after their portion of the session (if they are participating) It is best for them be in another part of the house (or taken outside or to the park, etc…) for the remainder of the session. Please- If you have any questions or concerns, reach out to me.
I know many of you had to cancel or postpone your newborn sessions. PLEASE- reach out to me when you are ready and I will do everything I can do get you in ASAP and also capture beautiful images you will love!
I have also implemented more safety and cleaning standards at the Studio (see the image below). I look forward to slowly getting back to working and seeing you all soon!

New Website - New Blog - New Features!
Welcome! Welcome to the new NKP Blog.
Believe it or not I had my old website for about 15 years!?!? It was great and easy to use but it lacked some features (such as a blog) I wanted so I finally had time (With the pandemic and all…) to create a BRAND NEW site and incorporate a blog!! I would love if you could check out the website and let me know your thought. Be kind ;) I am still working on a few of the pages and making some “tweaks” But I needed to get it published since as of last night my old one is non-existent.
My goal is to blog a few times a week and keep you guys updated on all things NKP as well as other topics that may interest you all. With that said, I hop to see you guys hear soon!!
